@Handling Prophecies, Revelations, and Visions with Care
In a world stirred by spiritual hunger and a yearning for divine direction, many souls seek answers from those who claim to see beyond the veil—prophets, alfas, seers, babalawo, dibias, marabouts, necromancers, and more. These messengers of the unseen can play sacred roles in guiding hearts. Yet, far too often, they become tools of fear, confusion, and manipulation.
Here's a few examples:
📌The "Prophet" Who Destroyed a Home
A woman in Lagos was told by a self-acclaimed prophet that her husband was the source of her stagnation and near-success syndrome. The prophet claimed he saw a “dark shadow” over the man and insisted that the woman must leave him if she ever wanted to "break through." Confused but desperate, she packed out with their children. Years later, it was revealed that the prophet had ulterior motives. The husband rose to become a successful businessman, remarried, and the woman, now estranged from her children, lives in regret. That home never recovered.
📌The Talented Youth Who Abandoned His Calling
A young man from Benue, gifted in music and already building a promising career, was told by a revival preacher that the "music industry was the gate of hell" and that God had called him to be a full-time evangelist. Fearing damnation, he abandoned his dreams. Years later, the same preacher was exposed for manipulating several youths in similar ways. The young man, now struggling with depression and financial hardship, lost crucial years to fear-driven obedience. The talent still lives in him, but the time lost cannot be reclaimed.
📌The Business Crushed by "Spiritual Revelation"
In Ibadan, a trader was told by a dibia during a visit to her hometown that her shop assistant was using her glory. Without any proof, she dismissed the girl harshly and closed her shop for a month to undergo spiritual cleansing. Her customers moved elsewhere. The assistant later proved her innocence and opened her own shop, growing rapidly. The trader's business never regained its former glory.
📌The Prophet Who Predicted Death Every Year
In Edo State, a family lived in constant fear because a prophet predicted that one family member would die every December unless they sowed a sacrificial seed yearly. For five years, they paid huge sums. No one died, but they suffered financially. When the family finally stopped the payments, they discovered peace and financial stability—yet the prophet kept spreading fear to new victims.
📌The Politician Whose Future Was Caged
A brilliant local government aspirant from Ogun State was told by a marabout that unless he sacrificed a white ram, a virgin pigeon, and stayed off his campaign for 21 days, he would be struck down. He obeyed. He lost the election. His political journey stalled. Years later, he discovered the marabout was secretly working for his opponent.
Many a young people have been dissuaded from going to school because of ignorant lies called prophecies that going to school is against their destiny.
Not all who see the unseen are sent from above. While spiritual guidance can be powerful, never suspend your reasoning. Real faith empowers, not enslaves. Protect your mind. Question what doesn’t sit right with your spirit. Don’t be manipulated under the guise of revelation.
Great futures have been aborted not by enemies, but by blind obedience to visions carelessly embraced. Glorious homes have crumbled at the feet of spiritual "revelations" that lacked truth. Bright minds, full of potential, have been tamed, caged, and silenced by predictions spoken with the weight of authority and finality, yet void of divine light.
Handle prophecies with care. Let discernment, not desperation, guide your reception. The divine does not author confusion, and no word from heaven demands that you abandon your mind. When a spiritual claim demands that you cease to think, question, or consider, then it is no longer guidance—it is control.
Your spirituality is not in conflict with your reasoning. Faith and wisdom must walk hand in hand. If the Almighty gave you a spirit, He also gave you sense. Do not shelve your reasoning in the name of religion. Truth withstands scrutiny. Light fears no questions. A prophecy that cannot endure the fire of wisdom and the test of peace is not worth holding on to.
Many people fall prey to spiritual predators because they drop their critical thinking at the feet of altars. They interpret silence as reverence, fear as faith, and submission as surrender to the divine. This is where the manipulators strike—unchecked and unchallenged. They isolate you, intimidate you, and insert themselves as the sole voice of God in your life. That is not leadership. That is spiritual tyranny.
The sacred is not afraid of your questions. God is not confused by your doubt. Heaven is not offended when you seek clarity. If a vision declares death without hope, if a revelation destroys trust, if a prophecy isolates you from loved ones, pause and reflect. True spiritual messages elevate, correct, instruct, or warn—but always with love, wisdom, and balance. They bring conviction, not condemnation. They bring peace, not panic.
Your destiny is too precious to be gambled on the unstable words of someone cloaked in religious mystique. Test every spirit. Weigh every message. Seek counsel, pray, think, and confirm. Decisions made in panic are the wombs of regret. No true messenger of light will be afraid of accountability.
Guard your heart. Guard your mind. Trust your instinct when something feels off, even if it comes dressed in holy garments. The Almighty who calls you by name also equips you with discernment. Use it.
The road to fulfilment is lined with voices. Not all deserve an audience. Learn to separate divine guidance from destructive influence. In doing so, you will not only protect your future, you will walk with confidence and clarity toward the life you were created to live.
Yours in fulfilment,
