Theme: “Keeping Humanity Alive”

Yesterday, May 8th, the world once again united in purpose to commemorate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, a day dedicated to honoring the timeless legacy of humanity, compassion, and service embodied by the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. This year's theme, “Keeping Humanity Alive,” is not just a call — it is a cause that defines the very heartbeat of humanitarian service across borders, beliefs, and boundaries.


At Project Youth Fulfil (PYoF), we resonate deeply with this theme. We see “keeping humanity alive” not as a ceremonial slogan, but as an intentional, everyday mission. It means standing up for vulnerable lives, sowing seeds of peace in conflict, responding to crises with courage, and nurturing the spirit of compassion in our youths — the emerging custodians of humanity’s future.


The Red Cross movement, with its presence in nearly every country, reminds us that humanity knows no limits. Whether responding to earthquakes, conflict zones, health pandemics, or hunger, their unwavering presence affirms that where there is pain, there must be compassion; and where there is need, there must be action.


For us at PYoF, this day is a sacred reminder to educate, empower, and equip our youths with the values of empathy, voluntary service, resilience, and leadership. Just as the Red Cross was founded on principles of neutrality, impartiality, and humanity, our mission remains rooted in creating responsible young changemakers who put others before self — not for applause, but for purpose.


We use this occasion to celebrate every Red Cross volunteer and humanitarian worldwide — especially the youth — who dare to bring light into dark moments. Your courage is our curriculum. Your sacrifice is our syllabus. Your service is our story.


As we look to the future, let us teach our young people that humanity must not only be kept alive — it must be kept awake. Awake to injustice. Awake to need. Awake to the cries of the underserved. And awake to their own inner power to make a difference.


PYoF calls on Nigerian youths and the global youth community to rise — with hearts full of compassion and hands ready to serve. Because keeping humanity alive starts with you.
