Sixty-five years ago, a nation broke free from the shackles of colonial rule and unfurled her green-and-white flag as a symbol of liberty, identity, and destiny. Today, Nigeria stands not merely as a geographical expression, but as a people with indomitable spirit, diverse culture, and resilient hope. Her journey has been marked by triumphs and trials, breakthroughs and breakdowns, yet she still marches forward with courage engraved in her heart.


At 65, Nigeria’s story is that of a mother whose strength endures storms yet refuses to bow. The children of this land must see beyond the darkness of challenges and behold the dawn of possibilities. We are blessed with abundant natural resources, vibrant creativity, and unmatched human potential that the world continues to admire. This is not a season for despair but a call to rise, to believe, and to build.


Independence is not only about freedom from colonial masters, it is about freedom from the chains of corruption, ignorance, disunity, and despair. It is about the will to light up every home with electricity, to transform classrooms into centres of excellence, to turn farmlands into granaries of abundance, and to raise a generation of leaders who serve rather than exploit. Independence must mean development, justice, and dignity for all.


Youth, as the heartbeat of this nation, must carry the torch of renewal. You are not leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders of today. Your innovations, your voices, and your resilience are what will shape Nigeria into the giant she was destined to be. Every idea, every skill, and every positive action is a brick in the house of a new Nigeria.
