@Guarding The Homeland: How You Rise Above Politics To Protect Nigeria
We are living through a moment when the soul of the nation is under attack—terrorists, killers and abductors striking communities with cruel precision. This is not the hour to trade insults, deepen divisions or weaponise politics. You stand taller than that. You should recognise that when danger knocks at the national door, it does not ask who you voted for. You understand that your safety, your family and your country demand unity, not bitterness.
You defend Nigeria when you adopt patriotism as a duty, not an emotion. Loving your country does not mean ignoring her weaknesses; it means refusing to sabotage her strength. You support government and security agencies because they are the instruments standing between society and chaos. You share information, report suspicious movements, cooperate during emergencies and avoid spreading fear. You refuse to join citizens who mock the country whenever troubles arise, because you know that discouragement is fuel to the enemy.
You strengthen the fight when you call for cleansing within the military. A nation at war cannot afford saboteurs wearing uniforms of trust. You and I should insist on discipline, transparency, accountability and strict intelligence checks so that bad eggs do not undermine brave officers risking their lives for the flag. We push for better training, modern equipment and improved welfare, because a frustrated defender cannot guard a vulnerable homeland.
We elevate national healing when the media behaves with sense and sensitivity. We expect journalists to be factual, measured and humane—never sensational, careless or inflammatory. They should understand that careless headlines can spread panic, embolden criminals and weaken morale. We should insist that the media becomes part of the solution, guiding public behaviour with truth, not trauma.
You rise above politics when you remember that Nigeria is bigger than any leader, party or election. You know that unity is not a slogan; it is a shield. When you stand with your country in troubled times, you help defeat terror with courage, patriotism and collective resolve. You become the citizen who understands that the enemy is not figuratively fellow Nigerians, but the forces threatening our peace from within, with external enablement.
Nigeria shall overcome!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Yours in fulfilment,
