Do Not Let Another Person’s Speed Confuse Your Journey
@Do Not Let Another Person’s Speed Confuse Your Journey
One of the quiet battles many young people are fighting today is the fear of being left behind in life. Every day, social media floods your eyes with pictures of success, travel, weddings, cars, achievements and luxurious lifestyles. Someone is announcing a new job, another is relocating abroad, another is buying a house while someone else is becoming famous online. In the middle of all these, many youths are secretly questioning themselves, doubting their progress and wondering whether life is moving too slowly for them.
The dangerous thing about comparison is that it can make you forget that people’s journeys are different. Some people start early and struggle later. Some rise quietly and become stable gradually. Others appear successful publicly while privately battling confusion, debt, pressure or emptiness. Life is not a uniform race where everybody must arrive at the same place at the same time. A mango tree and an orange tree do not mature at the same speed, yet both still fulfil their purpose beautifully.
Many young people are now making desperate decisions simply because they feel pressured to “catch up.” Some enter unhealthy relationships because their mates are getting married. Some engage in fraud because others appear wealthy online. Some abandon their learning process because they want overnight success. Some become depressed because they believe they are behind in life. Comparison has quietly stolen the peace, focus and confidence of many promising youths.
You must understand that progress is not always loud. Sometimes, the young person learning quietly, building gradually and improving consistently is actually laying stronger foundations for the future than the person displaying sudden success everywhere. Your journey requires patience, self-awareness and discipline. Rushing your process may lead you into mistakes that could have been avoided with wisdom and calmness.
Instead of measuring your life by another person’s timeline, focus on growth, learning and steady improvement. Celebrate others without condemning yourself. Your story is unfolding differently, not necessarily wrongly. The fact that someone is ahead in one area does not mean your own future is empty. Keep developing yourself. Keep moving forward faithfully. In time, your own season will speak for you.
