@A Psychopath
@A Psychopath
The recent breaking news of the horrible killing of a female undergraduate by a male undergraduate of a different university and who both happens to attend same home church has thrown up the term 'psychopath'. The killer boy in question was reported to have had an uneviable record and inhuman history of serial killings before his latest murderous adventure came to public light.
Who is a psychopath?
A psychopath is someone with a personality disorder characterized by persistent antisocial behaviour, impaired empathy, lack of remorse, egocentricity, and often manipulativeness.
Psychopathy is considered a subset of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) and is identified by traits like superficial charm, lack of guilt, and a lack of concern for others.
💥Key Characteristics of a Psychopath:
📌Lack of Empathy: Inability to understand or share the feelings of others.
📌Manipulativeness: Uses deceit and manipulation to achieve personal goals.
📌Superficial Charm: Appears charming and charismatic, often to manipulate others.
📌Impulsivity: Acts without considering the consequences.
📌Antisocial Behavior: They may frequently engage in criminal or antisocial behavior, showing little regard for the law or societal norms.
📌Lack of Remorse: Feels no guilt or shame for harmful actions.
📌Narcissism: Exhibits an inflated sense of self-worth and entitlement.
💥Handling a Psychopath:
📌Set Clear Boundaries: Establish firm boundaries to protect yourself from manipulation or exploitation from anyone regardless of their relationship to you - friendship, courtship, marriage, kinship, church/mosque membership, classmate/coursemate, workmate, senior-junior or even 'strangership'.
📌Avoid Emotional Engagement: Stay away and avoid getting emotionally involved, as psychopaths often seek to exploit emotional reactions. Don't fall for their emotional pretense! You are dealing with an animal in human skin!
📌Do Not Engage in Power Struggles: Psychopaths thrive on control, so it's best to avoid them totally. Do not attempt to change, endure or tolerate them. Run for your life!
📌Seek Support: If you're dealing with a psychopath in a personal or professional setting, seek support from others or consider counseling.
📌Legal Protection: In extreme cases, consider legal measures to protect yourself, such as restraining orders. You can also report to law enforcement agents.
Understanding and recognizing these traits can help you navigate interactions with a psychopath more effectively and protect your well-being.
