Ladies and Gentlemen, brothers and sisters, today, I want to speak to you about something that stirs the very core of who we are, something that calls us to rise higher, to go further, and to trust deeper. That something is the power within each of us—the power to trust our wings.

Bishop TD Jakes, in his remarkable sermon at the closing of WOMAN EVOLVE 2024, painted an unforgettable picture of the hawk, a bird known for its strength, vision, and precision. The hawk is not ordinary. It soars to great heights, dives with purpose, and sees far beyond what many other creatures can even fathom. But what captivated me was not just the hawk's power or its sharp vision, but its faith in its wings.

You see, the hawk loves to rest on the branches of trees, just like we often lean on the support systems in our lives—the relationships, the jobs, the opportunities that give us security. But sometimes, the branch breaks. Sometimes, the very thing we trusted to hold us up begins to give way. The branch of comfort, of certainty, snaps unexpectedly, leaving us suspended between hope and fear.

And here is where the lesson of the hawk becomes profound. When that branch breaks, the hawk does not scream. It does not panic. It does not fall. Instead, it trusts its wings. It spreads them wide and lifts itself higher. It flies not because of the branch, but because of the strength within itself.

My friends, many of us are standing on fragile branches today. Perhaps it's the branch of a job we thought would never end, a relationship we believed would last forever, or a dream we thought was indestructible. But what happens when that branch breaks? Do we crumble with it? Or do we trust in our wings?

Life will not always be predictable. There will be moments when the things we lean on will fall apart. But what remains constant is the strength God has placed within each of us—the wings of faith, the wings of resilience, the wings of purpose.

Let me remind you of this truth: You were never created to be defined by the branch. You are defined by the wings God gave you. Those wings are your faith, your vision, your strength, your gifts, your talents, your purpose, and your ability to rise even when everything else falls apart.

So when life shakes you, when the ground beneath you seems unstable, remember the hawk. Trust your wings. Trust the inner strength that has carried you this far. Trust the God who has equipped you for every challenge. You don’t need the branch to stay whole in order to fly—you need only to spread your wings and let your faith lift you higher.

In closing, I leave you with this: The branches in life are temporary, but your wings are eternal. So, when the branch breaks, don’t break with it. Rise. Soar. And trust your wings.

When your trusted friend betrays you, trust your wings!

When sickness ravages your body, trust your wings!

When your grades in school are not turning in great, trust your wings!

When your finances are running poor, trust your wings!

When your loved ones are avoiding you like a plague, trust your wings!

When your dreams are seemingly unfulfillable, trust your wings!

When the storms of life are raging fiercely, trust your wings!

When any branch in your life breaks, trust your wings!
