@Tired of Being Strong: When the Shoulder Needs a Shoulder

They call you strong because you never cry in public. You’re the helper, the fixer, the one everyone runs to when life becomes messy. They applaud your resilience, admire your courage, and lean on your wisdom. Yet, no one pauses to ask, “Who carries you?”


The world is quick to draw from your well, forgetting that even deep wells can run dry. You smile through your storms so others can feel safe in theirs. You hide your hunger so others can be fed. You keep showing up, even when your spirit screams for rest. It is not weakness to be weary. It is human.


Strength has a story no one reads aloud. It is not the absence of pain, but the presence of purpose in spite of it. It is choosing to love again after betrayal. It is being dependable when all you want is someone dependable. It is giving hugs you desperately need to receive.


Being strong doesn’t mean you don’t break. It means you often break in silence and rebuild with invisible bricks. That silent rebuilding is sacred, but even sacred things need support.


You were never meant to live as a fortress. You are a soul, not a superhero. Even pillars need pillars. Even lightbulbs need sockets to shine. There’s no shame in seeking shelter, in admitting you’re tired, in whispering, “I need help.”


Let someone hold your hand. Let someone pour into you for once. Let love find you, not just through those you save, but through those who can see your cracks and still call you beautiful.


You have carried enough people. You have wiped enough tears. You have made others feel seen, valued, and safe. Now, let yourself feel seen. Let yourself feel safe. Let yourself be held.


You’re strong. Yes, you are. Remember you’re also human. And sometimes, even the shoulder needs a shoulder.
