@When Simplicity Becomes Self-Sabotage
@When Simplicity Becomes Self-Sabotage
–An Awakening for the Self-Effacing Soul
In a world that thrives on dominance and daring, there exists a silent tribe—people so gentle, so harmless, so agreeable, they fade behind the curtains of life while applauding others from the shadows. They are the “simple people.” Not simple by intellect, but simple by suppression. Not lacking strength, but shrinking to please. These are the ones who starve while serving banquets. The ones who bury their dreams so others can soar. The ones whose voices are always quiet, not because they have nothing to say, but because they fear they might offend.
Their minds are not theirs—they rent them out to public opinion, family pressures, societal expectations, and religious codes misinterpreted. They are afraid to take bold steps or be misunderstood. To them, approval is oxygen. Conflict is cancer. They go out of their way to never say "no," even when everything in them is breaking.
They build houses for others with no intention of ever building their own. They sponsor greatness in others while shrinking into mediocrity themselves. They are sacrificial to a fault—feeding everyone else with their time, energy, and money while watching their own soul waste away. Their generosity is noble, yes, but their inability to balance it with self-regard is dangerous. They stay unemployed for years because someone told them working in a tobacco company or brewery is sinful, even though the same people dine on imported wines or accept donations from similar establishments. Tradition and religion, once tools of discipline and dignity, have now become chains around their dreams.
Is it wrong to be good? Certainly not. Is it a virtue to be selfless? Without a doubt, but when goodness morphs into gullibility and selflessness becomes self-erasure, it’s no longer a virtue—it’s bondage wrapped in the disguise of humility.
There is a difference between being kind and being a doormat. There is a vast space between serving others and slaving for their validation. You are not called to disappear so that others can be seen. You are not designed to always take the backseat while pushing everyone else forward. Your dreams matter too. Your voice deserves to be heard. Your hunger deserves to be fed. Your destiny deserves to be fulfilled.
Yes, be kind. Yes, be generous, but do not live your life only for others while leaving yourself behind. Even the sun, in all its brightness, takes its rest and allows the moon to shine.
Let it be known—people who always try to please everyone, who are afraid to offend, who sacrifice themselves endlessly without thought—do not earn more love. They earn more weight, more expectations, and more invisibility. And in the end, they look around only to realize the world they helped build for others has no room for them.
It's time to wake up. To find your voice. To dream your own dream. To pursue your own fulfilment. To realize that true love for others begins with love for self. If your beliefs are killing your opportunities, challenge them. If your traditions silence your truth, outgrow them. If your relationships demand your disappearance, question them.
You were not made to be a shadow. You were made to shine.
So rise—not in arrogance, but in awareness. Speak—not to hurt, but to heal. Live—not to please, but to fulfil.
And the day you begin to own your life, simplicity will no longer be your prison—but your power.
