@When Patriotism Must Speak Loudly

 @When Patriotism Must Speak Loudly

There comes a time when silence becomes a sin — when truth must rise like dawn against the fog of deception. The recent designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” by President Donald Trump, alongside his veiled threat of military intervention, is not just a diplomatic overreach; it is a deliberate mischaracterisation of Nigeria, born out of misinformation, disinformation, and perhaps the bruised ego of a fading superpower.

You must understand this clearly: the terrorism Nigeria is battling is not a war of faith. It has defied religion and devoured both Christians and Muslims alike. The Nigerian state does not possess, endorse, or enforce any policy that stops any citizen from worshipping according to their conviction. Freedom of religion and human rights are not only upheld but enshrined in our constitution. Nigeria’s struggles are complex, but her conscience is clear.

It is therefore disheartening that some sections of Nigerians are rejoicing at this reckless remark — a revelation of shallowness and poor grasp of international politics. No foreign nation suddenly grows a holy passion to “fight for you” without hidden interests. The same powers that now pretend to be your saviours once profited from your dependency and chaos. Now that President Tinubu is steering Nigeria toward self-sufficiency — refining our oil as being shouldered by Dangote, stabilising our currency, closing trade deficits, and ending the beggarly culture of foreign aid — the beneficiaries of our past economic servitude are hurting. Their empire of influence is crumbling, and they seek to disguise their loss under the garb of “concern.”

You must not fall for this emotional manipulation. There is no country on earth where America’s forceful intervention has left peace or prosperity behind. None. It is the height of hypocrisy and unpatriotism for some politically desperate individuals to twist facts, misinform the world, and invite humiliation upon their homeland for personal gain. A true child does not use the left hand to point the way to his father’s house.

Nigeria is not perfect, yet she is progressing. Nigeria is not flawless, yet she is forward-moving. We may stumble, but we shall not fall. We may bend, but we shall not break. For Nigeria is a sovereign nation — proud, resilient, and rising. No rash, uninformed, and meddlesome interloper has the right to dictate our destiny. Christians must not yield to emotional propaganda; their faith is not under attack — their country is.

Nigeria shall be great again. Nigeria shall be sweet again. And when the dust settles, truth will stand tall, waving the green-white-green for all to see — that patriotism, not panic, is the soul of a nation’s strength.
