Gratitude for these roots is not passive sentiment—it is a call to responsibility.


What we owe is not always financial or ceremonial. It is the commitment to leave spaces better than we found them. It is the courage to repair what is broken, to speak life into places that have been neglected, and to mentor those who are beginning the journey we once walked. True repayment is measured in action, not nostalgia.


We also owe integrity to our roots. Decisions made elsewhere reflect on the places that nurtured us. When we live recklessly, exploit resources, or abandon values, the debt remains. Respecting the lessons, ethics, and culture of our origins honors the unseen hands that shaped our trajectory.
