From Many Waters To A Large Place: My Testimony of Grace
@From Many Waters To A Large Place: My Testimony of Grace
There are victories that human effort can explain, and there are victories that can only be traced to the fingerprints of God.
My successful attainment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree belongs to the latter.
As I stand today on this mountain peak of accomplishment, my heart overflows with profound gratitude to the Almighty God—the Author of my life, the Sustainer of my journey, and the Finisher of every good work He begins.
The road to this moment was not always smooth. It was filled with twists and turns, mountains and valleys, hurdles and hidden traps. There were seasons when the burden seemed heavy, moments when the destination appeared distant, and times when the storms of life threatened to overwhelm the voyage.
Yet, through it all, God remained faithful.
He drew me out of many waters.
When challenges rose like mighty floods, He became my Ark of safety. When uncertainty sought to cloud my vision, He illuminated my path. When weariness knocked at the door of my soul, He renewed my strength like the eagle's.
What looked like battles became victories.
What appeared to be tribulations became jubilation.
What seemed like scars became stars.
What felt like troubles became trophies.
What resembled delays eventually turned into dancing.
What caused heartaches was transformed into heartfelt joy.
Life threw lemons at me, but God's gracious hand helped me turn them into lemonade. Life threw eggs my way, but His abundant mercies made an omelette out of them. What was intended to discourage me became a stepping stone to destiny.
Indeed, great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning after morning, year after year, His mercies never failed. His grace never expired. His promises never fell to the ground.
As the timeless hymn declares:
"All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided."
Looking back, I can boldly affirm that this achievement is not merely the product of intelligence, hard work, determination, or resilience. While these played their roles, the ultimate credit belongs to God.
For as Scripture declares:
"No one receives anything unless it is given to him from above."
Every insight, every opportunity, every breakthrough, every helper, every provision, every open door, and every completed chapter came from Him.
There were walls before me, but He empowered me to leap over them.
There were obstacles on the path, but He enabled me to surmount them.
There were forces seen and unseen, but He fought battles I could never have won on my own.
As David testified, so do I:
"For by Thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall."
The God who brought me this far did not merely help me survive; He helped me overcome. He defeated powers and principalities of darkness. He shattered barriers. He broke ancestral limitations. He frustrated every agenda designed to hinder His purpose for my life.
And when the journey seemed longest, He brought me forth into a large place.
"He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me."
Today, as I add "PhD" to my name, I do not see a personal trophy alone. I see a testimony of divine faithfulness. I see evidence that God still honours His Word. I see proof that grace can accomplish what strength alone cannot.
This achievement is therefore not an endpoint but a reminder that the God who carried me through this season remains able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that I can ask or think.
To my Maker, my Redeemer, my Defender, my Helper, my Strength, and my Source - I am deeply grateful.
Thank You for every battle You fought.
Thank You for every tear You wiped away.
Thank You for every mountain You moved.
Thank You for every valley You walked me through.
Thank You for every door You opened.
Thank You for every burden You carried.
Thank You for turning impossibilities into possibilities.
Thank You for making me triumph in spite of all odds.
The glory belongs to You alone.
Forever and ever.
Amen.
