A new academic session is not merely the reopening of school gates; it is the reopening of opportunities, the renewal of dreams and another invitation to become the person we are capable of becoming. As students return to classrooms across Nigeria, let us remember that education is more than uniforms, textbooks, examinations and certificates. It is the deliberate development of the mind, the strengthening of character and the preparation of young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world.


Dear young people, do not enter this new session with only the hope of passing examinations. Enter with the determination to grow in knowledge, wisdom, discipline, creativity and confidence. Ask questions. Read beyond the classroom. Learn useful skills. Discover your strengths. Improve your weaknesses. Build relationships that inspire excellence. Refuse the temptation to allow distractions, peer pressure, indiscipline or digital excesses to steal the future you are working to create. Every school day is an opportunity to invest in the person you are becoming.


To parents, teachers and school leaders, may we never forget that every child carries possibilities that may not yet be visible. Let us create learning environments where students are not merely instructed but inspired, not merely corrected but guided, and not merely prepared for examinations but equipped for life.
