WHAT IF ONE ARTICLE

Image
WHAT IF ONE ARTICLE COULD CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE YOURSELF, YOUR COMMUNITY, OR YOUR FUTURE? What if a few minutes spent reading could awaken a forgotten dream, challenge a limiting belief, strengthen a struggling heart, or inspire someone to make a better decision? That is the vision behind PROJECT YOUTH FULFIL (PYoF) — a community-service, pro-youth NGO I founded with a commitment to Youth, Education, Community and Leadership Development. Our motto is simple, yet profound: “...guiding youths to fulfilment!” PYoF is not just about young people. It is about everyone who believes in growth, personal development, self-discovery, character building, responsible citizenship, meaningful relationships, lifelong learning and the possibility of becoming better and greater.  One of our key strategies is the publication of life-shaping, mind-igniting, insightful, inspiring and empowering daily articles. Through these articles, we explore the issues that shape our lives, challenge our thinking,...

Not Everyone Who Loves You Knows How To Treat You

Image
@Not Everyone Who Loves You Knows How To Treat You One of the cruelest experiences in life is to discover that the person you would run to for comfort is the same person you must hide your tears from. You remember how their voice once calmed you, how their presence made difficult days bearable, how you trusted them with the softest parts of your heart. Now, the same relationship leaves you rehearsing conversations before having them, swallowing your pain to avoid another argument, and crying quietly so nobody asks what happened. The tragedy is not always that they stopped loving you. Sometimes, it is that they love you and still keep hurting you. Some people are not deliberately cruel; they are simply emotionally unequipped to care for another person without causing damage. They confuse possession with protection, silence with peace, control with concern, and repeated apologies with genuine change. They may hold you close while making you feel alone. They may fear losing you while...

When A People Forget Their Roots, They Lose The Map To Their Future

Image
@When A People Forget Their Roots, They Lose The Map To Their Future A people who forget where they came from may eventually struggle to know where they are going. Our roots are more than names, festivals, traditional clothing, indigenous languages or ancestral stories. They carry the wisdom, values, identity and experiences that shaped those who came before us. Every generation inherits a cultural treasure, and every generation has a responsibility to decide whether that treasure will be preserved, improved and passed on—or allowed to disappear. We cannot build a strong future by treating everything from our past as primitive while blindly embracing everything foreign as superior. Our elders may not have had smartphones, artificial intelligence or modern classrooms, yet many possessed wisdom about community, respect, responsibility, craftsmanship, family, resilience and human relationships that technology cannot replace. Culture should not imprison us in the past; it should give ...

The Leader Who Listens Today Prevents The Crisis Of Tomorrow

Image
@The Leader Who Listens Today Prevents The Crisis Of Tomorrow Some crises do not begin with explosions. They begin with a voice that was ignored. A worker notices something going wrong but is afraid to speak. A citizen raises a concern and is dismissed. A team member sees the danger ahead, yet the leader is too busy talking to listen. What appears insignificant today can become tomorrow's disaster when leadership refuses to pay attention. Listening is not weakness. It is one of the highest expressions of leadership. A leader who listens hears what authority alone cannot reveal. Behind a complaint may be a warning. Behind a disagreement may be wisdom. Behind silence may be frustration that has grown tired of knocking on a closed door. Great leaders do not merely listen to respond; they listen to understand, investigate and act. Every organisation, community and nation eventually pays for the voices it chooses to ignore. Good governance is not only about making policies, giving order...

The System May Be Limited, Your Learning Must Not Be

Image
@The System May Be Limited, Your Learning Must Not Be What if we spend sixteen years in classrooms, collect certificates, wear academic gowns, and still step into the world unprepared for life? What if the system gives us imperfect teachers, inadequate facilities, overcrowded classrooms, outdated resources and countless reasons to settle for mediocrity? The painful truth is that our circumstances may explain where we begin, but they do not have to determine where we end. Excellent education begins when a young person takes personal responsibility for learning beyond the limitations of the system. A school may teach the syllabus; we must cultivate curiosity. A lecturer may deliver a lecture; we must pursue understanding. A certificate may prove that we completed a programme; we must prove that the programme transformed us. The internet, books, mentors, communities, professional courses, practical experiences and countless learning opportunities available today mean that the determined m...

The Day Eloquence Shone Like A Million Stars

Image
@The Day Eloquence Shone Like A Million Stars There are moments when preparation ends and destiny simply says, “Stand up.” Mine came during the “Leading Stakeholders and Building Community” session at the Teach For Nigeria 2026 Pre-Service Training Institute, facilitated by Mrs Dudun Peterside, a World Bank Consultant and Board Member of Teach For Nigeria. There were 15 groups and about 450 prospective Fellows in the room. Mrs Peterside presented a case study and announced a challenge: the best groups would win cash prizes for answering the questions correctly and to her satisfaction. I had only a few precious minutes to scan through the case study before our group was called upon to defend. There was no long preparation. No rehearsal. No opportunity to retreat into the comfort of extensive research. Then my teammates and Coaches earnestly beckoned on me: “Doctor, please go and defend us.” I stood. The moment I grabbed the microphone, everything changed. The spotlight was on me. In fro...

Nobody Is Coming To Rescue The Dream Inside You

Image
@Nobody Is Coming To Rescue The Dream Inside You There is a dream sleeping inside many young people, quietly suffocating beneath fear, procrastination and excuses. A young man keeps saying, “One day, I will start.” A young woman keeps whispering, “When things get better, I will try.” Days become months. Months become years. Then one painful morning, we look into the mirror and realise that the life we prayed for has been waiting for the courage we never gave it. The tragedy is not that the dream was impossible. The tragedy is that we allowed it to die while we were waiting for someone to come and save it. We often imagine that someone will appear with the money, the connection, the opportunity, the recommendation or the perfect platform. We wait for the influential person to notice us. We wait for the economy to improve. We wait until we feel confident. We wait until everything becomes perfect. Life rarely works that way. Sometimes, the first person who must believe in the dream is the...
